Celiac disease

Are you part of the 1 percent club? Well, to be fair, celiac disease occurs in 1 to 2 percent of the population. In addition to having gastrointestinal problems, people with celiac disease also experience other signs and symptoms caused by vitamin and nutritional deficiencies. Talk to your doctor and get a blood test to see if you have high levels of antibodies (called IgA tissue transglutaminase). If your antibody level is elevated, a tissue sample revealing destruction of your small intestine lining will confirm the diagnosis. Sounds like an ordeal, but hey, it's not easy being part of the one percent club.
